Photo of the day: Prickly When Wet
We planted cactus in the front yard hoping it would keep the neighborhood cats from digging up our planter boxes. The plan was only marginally successful. By that I mean they sleep in the margins between plants. But, so far, they haven't actually dug up the sharp things.

I can't figure out if those cats are stupid (for cuddling up to cacti) or ingenious (for doing it without injury).
Are these cats really porcupines? If so, they might see these cacti as potential mates, thus explaining the bedding down.
Also, I'm sharing my favorite Cactus/Grammar story:
Once upon a time Andy and I were at Home Depot in the garden department when this little boy grabbed a cactus like a little tard and then screamed, "Mommy! I got stinged by cactuses!"
To which his genius mommy replied, "That's STUNG by *cactuses*, Billy."
And then Andy and I looked right at each other and laughed very, very loudly.
